If publicist CeCe Vance of Vance NyCC is the driving force behind such hip-hop artists as DJ Kayotik, Milly Warbucks, and Slim Thug it's because she knows a thing or two about gettin' busy behind the mic. “When I was a teenager, like 16, I was Miss Groove in Phavor. And Scarface's wife, Rhonda Jordan, she was our manager, and we were signed to a major label. That was my younger days,” she tells host Nia Boom. “But sometimes the artist still comes out in me. I might hear a beat, and I might want to go in a little bit. But my clients always say, ‘We don't want no rappin' publicist! We don't want no singing flack.' So I stay in my lane. But every now and then when I'm in a studio and I hear a little beat, I can't help but bust into a little eight-bar groove!”
